Yes, but I think they will eventually migrate to Qt, as more and more Linux desktop applications have done. So there is no need to worry.

I hope the don't, but actually make a decent use of GTK.

Unless you count on the Stockholm syndrome you can be pretty sure they won't accept such shackles.
Which "shackles" are you referring to? QT is available under the LGPL and GPLv2 and GPLv3. So it's a copyleft license. From https://www.qt.io/faq/#_Toc_1_2

1.2. What are the licensing options for Qt?

Starting from Qt 5.7, Qt is licensed under
          Commercial license
          LGPL3 open source license
GPL2 or GPLv3 open source license

The general Qt toolkit, consisting of Qt Essential code libraries, the Qt add-on APIs, and the Qt Creator IDE are available dual-licensed for commercial and GPL licenses. Most of the Qt APIs are available also under LGPLv3 license but not all of the Qt Add-on modules.

In addition, the commercial Qt license includes additional tools and solutions for embedded development.

When are they going to fix icons for dark themes? It's still messed up in KDE breeze-dark.

IMHO the most needed feature is flawless docx, xlsx, etc compatibility...
It would go a long ways for LibreOffice.

Better compatibility — yes. I've even got some bugreport about, by this release still unsolved.

But "flawless" — no, it's just impossible. TL;DR version of the link: MS Office support of docx is so broken (sick! their own format!), that different versions of Office sometimes even behave differently for the same document.

Here's a smaller but also curious article for the topic https://brattahlid.wordpress.com/201...open-standard/ , I'm going to even quote some part of it

What this means is that when you save a document in MS Office 2010 or prior in any of the ‘X’ formats, you are not saving them in the advertised OpenXML format. This document will hence NOT be properly readable by other software such as Libre and Open Office and they will make changes to the document when they are opened and saved within them.
To sum up: please, use ODF whenever possible.

Not really. There was a proper effort to address it. But it's stalling: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/...g.cgi?id=94632

The compatibility improves with each new version, but unfortunately it can't be made flawless. Sometimes our internal model (and/or a similar feature in ODF) is not compatible with a feature in OOXML and we have to make a compromise to make it work. Sometimes a feature is not implemented in LO yet (and is not trivial to implement it). MS also makes sure it extends the format with every release which are causing incompatibilities (for example: slide transitions were completely redefined 2 times since MSO 2007 and OOXML standard).

Anyway, the biggest document layout breaker in Writer today are fonts. OTOH Impress support still needs to be improved..
