Phoronix: Heterogeneous Memory Management Isn't Ready For Linux 4.11

Jerome Glisse and others have been working on the rather cool Heterogeneous Memory Management support for the Linux kernel going back several years. While Jerome hoped to see HMM merged for Linux 4.11, it will be sitting out at least one more cycle...

What is the state of HSA and HSAIL which is the Heterogeneous Memory Management model for AMD and ARM ? It would seem to me that this holds MUCH broader appeal than the narrow box Nvidia finds itself in with just workstations and HPC since they are out of mobile and integrated and will never get an x86 license to make their own CPU.

It's a good question, but the three are not necessarily mutually exclusive. And whether or not Nvidia is "out of mobile and integrated" may be a matter of definition. Nvidia is certainly out of the things they are out of, but Pixel C is still the most capable Chromebook Out There, and Nvdia is probably the leader in on-board computing for active lane assist and autonomous automobile navigation. Does that count as "narrow" and "immobile"?
