i dont think it would have to update much of anything in it, XFCE is pretty much stable as it is. untill 4.14 comes out which is anyones guess

canonical is pretty stupid, i could say more but then i'd end up swearing my lungs out.

I doubt Canonical has anything to do with configuring xfce in Xubuntu. And when you choose to use any other DE, it does not mean you dislike xfce. It can be about habit or the integration of a particular app or any other reason really.

Unfortunately Nautilus and GNOME Terminal are stuck at 3.20.
GNOME Terminal 3.20 is buggy under Wayland and have a ugly shadow.
Reason Ubuntu is stuck with GNOME Terminal 3.20 is because newer versions depend on pcre2 which is not available in the repository because only one version of a library is allowed, and they're still using the old PCRE library which Mir or Unity depends on.

Of course there are virtual desktops in Xubuntu. You're just too ignorant to know any better. Or in too deep in debian-xfce to know anything else. Or maybe you're a plain liar. Or more likely, you're just some guy's trolling experience, since you're too surreal to be an actual person.

By the way, in Xubuntu just go to System Settings=>Workspaces to enable how many virtual desktops you like.
