Xfce4-Panel 4.12 freezes sometimes. Maybe once per week. But I think is a XORG problem. Hopefully it will be fixed with Wayland.

In other news, DebianXFCE is spearheading the effort to fork XFCE and keep it pegged to gtk+2.x

Guess what, Xfce is stable because gtk 2 is stable. Xfce is ready, many others desktops are not.

GTK2+ isn't stable, it's legacy software.
The only way legacy software is stable is that you often can't improve upon it without breaking things or having your developers go apeshit.
