ludwig called out kde to sort out a lts release ready for leap 15.

no doubt talks already going on now, given that qt have made a new lts release earlier than expected (5.9).

sle 15 rc in march 2018, so leap likely in June'ish.

suggests plasma 5.12/5.13 for new kde lts.

suse say they want wayland by default, so i imagine kde are being leaned on to get that finished for lts.

Indeed. That's quite exciting. GNOME will probably be on Wayland by default, but it's still a question about Plasma... Especially considering the whole NVIDIA debacle.

opensuse will eventually default to Gnome. It doesn't matter much on an all-inclusive dist like opensuse, but SUSE wont use KDE. Gnome is already ready for Wayland and the reference desktop with most users.

Gnome is not the most used DE, I just hope they do not set it up in default in OpenSuse, even though it would not change anything.
Anyway we hope to stay with Kde who is a DE done well, Gnome is for bored kids.
