      Um, 1st of April? Jokes aside, what's wrong with the weston-as-a-library work? Isn't that made for such cases?

          Surely if the problem is limited developer resources, the answer is to use someone else's compositor, not to take on development of an entire graphics stack that's half abandoned?

              The answer requiring the smallest amount of initial work and maintenance would be to make a GNOME 3 theme that imitates GNOME 2 ?
