Maybe it's just me, but i think it would be interesting to benchmark this against older verions of VMware, Hyper-V.
This way we could 'see' if it was worth the change.

As far as I remebber VMWare doesn't allow benchmarks.
Last time Michael did a Xeon vs. KVM benchmark, KVM was faster, but as far as I remember the gap was later closed by a series of Xen fixes.
In my experience HyperV on Windows servers is (considerably) slower than them both - especially when it comes to IO.

IO is actually my problem with HyperV!...
