Dear Phoronix (Michael L.),
Before the pre-release of OpenIndiana oi_151, I worked on the Solaris port of the Xorg Intel 2.16.0 driver for testing purposes. I can make it available to Phoronix for review on Intel HD 3000 GPU-related platforms using OpenIndiana (or help create a test setup for you).
In your other article, "The Sad State Of GPU Drivers For BSD, Solaris", this article is a bit misleading - but has a good point if OpenSolaris-based distributions want to keep up on Intel graphics development.
I can provide the nouveau stack and libKMS ports as I'll list here:
(thor) $: uname -a
SunOS thor 5.11 oi_151a i86pc i386 i86pc Solaris
(thor) $: ls /usr/lib/xorg
TrustedExtensionsPolicy libdrm_intel.so.1 libfontenc.so
amd64 libdrm_intel.so.1.0.0 libfontenc.so.1
libXfont.so libdrm_nouveau.la libkms.la
libXfont.so.1 libdrm_nouveau.so libkms.so
libdrm.la libdrm_nouveau.so.1 libkms.so.1
libdrm.so libdrm_nouveau.so.1.0.0 libkms.so.1.0.0
libdrm.so.2 libdrm_radeon.la modules
libdrm.so.2.4.0 libdrm_radeon.so pkgconfig
libdrm_intel.la libdrm_radeon.so.1 protocol.txt
libdrm_intel.so libdrm_radeon.so.1.0.0
Test file: -rwxr-xr-x * * 311700 Oct 12 10:19 intel_drv.so (Xorg Intel 2.16.0 video driver)
The OpenIndiana oi_151a distro officially uses Xserver 1.7.7 so you can't SNA-enabled features as provided by the current Intel 2.16 driver. This may change soon.
There are possible kernel patches needed for a few other things...
Hope this helps,
Ken Mays (USA)
