Because you can confirm that yourself by downloading clien's from valve and running patches. And i think those differ's a bit with steam windows client.
True too, but it is nice that at what phase this goes on even with a lot of fixes are submitted by community. I am confident valve is making linux client and giving some attention to it right after...
We'll if steam dies i doubt anyone worries about old games getting easily pirated. And if peeps keeps continuing buying games throught steam then they are making money and getting money to run...

That also includes discussing about cracking/work-around for strong encryption/drm.
Here in Finland if i remember correctly only cracking "strong" encryption is illegal. Can't call that encrypted, not to mention "strong".
And we are not posting steamui.so file but patch only what will fix some bugs.

I am completely fine with what you have done and i think it's not harmfull. Actually quite opposite, it is indicating that there are linux users interested of gaming.

And this kind of hacking is making far less harm than ones who are making cracks/game fixes.
I think if valve is not liking what we do they would simply drop linux clien't from servers (so we can't hack updated version) and simply give client's us when it's ready for publishing/beta testing....
