Your timeline is accurate, but Nvidia has been quite involved on the mailing lists. Aaron Plattner has been providing lots of advice and code reviews on how to accommodate binary drivers.
There...
Lol
He pulled the article after I emailed him
Gallium is nice because you can create state trackers and extend it very easily
Classic Mesa feels like a walled garden
Btw, Michael is an idiot:...
Nvidia's kernel patches and dma-buf suggestions were implemented in a way that satisfied 90% of what they wanted. It's the main reason why this requires the unreleased 3.9 kernel.
They couldn't...
I'm pretty close to getting "Optimus" working. Unfortunately, my Nvidia card isn't wired to HDMI or any output and the LVDS doesn't want to play nice.
I'm getting a blank, backlit screen. X will...
I should've suspected that Michael masturbates furiously while writing his articles.
I consider this to be a dead project.
It still requires XP drivers.
And yet we still have no idea what any of this mean.
Great journalism, Mike.
The Intel DDX is the standard by which all other drivers should follow.
Release early. Release often.
Can't say the same for Intel 3D support. They should trash the whole thing and move to...
Starch Linux: Kill me... Please kill me...
I'm glad Nvidia still cares.
They need goodwill if they ever want to use dma-buf themselves.
Well, shit.
I was hoping that the Optimus hot-switching stuff would land.
Ubuntu 13.10 is so far off.
I just say "gigs" to avoid the problem.
The article is dead wrong about hybrid graphics suppport.

Still no Unity web plugin for Linux.
Still waiting for Nvidia to grow some some balls and use or reimplement dma-buf.
Hey Michael, way to misrepresent and forget to cite my hybrid graphics spec for 13.04. You did a copy and paste.

I hope Optimus/PRIME power management lands in 3.8.
The code seems ready to go.
