Hmm...I don't have the video tearing problem, and I thought it was resolved with the Catalyst 8.3 driver.

Perhaps compiz is causing the issue? TexturedVideo and compiz don't seem to play nice in...

Individual setups vary, that's why. Some are AGP users, some use R4xx cards, some use R5xx cards, some use R6xx cards.

Interestingly enough I have the same card and X.org version running in Xv but I don't have any of the problems you mention.
