I guess it wouldn't be feasible for the host to give up the card and then take it back again when the guest is done? X would probably need to be stopped at the least.

I didn't think so either but turns out there is at least some cross-over, though it may not be relevant to this.

Funny title, I wondered what you meant. :D I'll try this sooner or later but I've shifted to PostgreSQL as much as possible. Sadly, phppgadmin isn't nearly as nice.
Great project. I've run it on my Netgear DG384v2 for a good while because I was determined not to buy the overpriced Xbox 360 wireless adapter. :D I may update it eventually but it's working fine so...
I've switched my wife's laptop from classic to Gallium and back again. The initial switch was because Minecraft didn't run under classic. Eventually we found Gallium to be a little too unstable and...
Well I have long done these things with the command line but with one recent video, it was getting tedious so I installed OpenShot and found it to be pretty nice. It's not quite feature-packed but it...
It was an issue if your distribution moved onto GNOME 3 but you wanted to stick with GNOME 2. No doubt many packages would pull in GNOME 3 components.
Awesome. :D As I've mentioned here previously, I did install Gentoo on my Amiga 1200 a few years back but I never got as far as trying X. Compiling aside, that wasn't quite as slow as you might think...
Apogee is the legal name for 3D Realms and it was known as that before 1994. I don't think ID was involved though, they developed Commander Keen, which Apogee published, but Duke was done entirely by...
Ironically the eduke32 Gentoo ebuild bug report has been seeing a lot of activity this past week and I think it may hit the Portage tree very soon. I think it looks better than this new port.
I suspect that depends on whether hardware mixing is present. I'd be surprised if they have designed these chips so that using this feature blocks all other sounds. If hardware mixing is present,...
I thought that's what KMS was for but I guess that was only half the problem.
That comment would stand up better if Windows were more open and predictable. I gather much of Wine is based on reverse-engineering and guesswork.
Woo a change I made (dri2proto flags) makes Phoronix news. Wish it could have been more interesting. :|
This doesn't seem to make much sense. Is Arch's kernel really all that different? I know Gentoo's isn't. Certainly not different enough to warrant the Arch association. But it does use pacman, which...
I didn't know there was such a thing!
PostgreSQL has been around since forever but it's only recently that it's started to become popular. I switched to it a little before the hype started because I needed GIS features and MySQL sucks...
Couldn't agree more. I only use MySQL on existing legacy systems.
No doubt that's a factor but people are leaving MySQL in droves, just like every other open source project that Oracle has...
Actually Opera Mini for iOS worked around the rules. It uses Opera's own engine, albeit, the rendering is done remotely.
There's problems with both actually and it's the one thing I hate about Opera but I've managed to make it bearable.
