What he said. They just got xfire, get on with xfireX already(or whatever's needed) :) It's the only reason i'm in Vista atm...
Hmm, since they've added Xfire support, has anybody tried the new drivers with a 3870X2 card, by any chance. I just got all excited and then i checked the "supported cards" sheet and it says that...
I never really got it to work, but maybe it'l help you. Link to my thread
If you get it to work, please describe what you did :)
Well, i'm looking for a card that works the best overall. Using Opera(donno if that makes a difference), watching movies/series and some good 3d graphics(not really newest of the newest though, they...
Hmm. I have been searching prices and perfomance chards.
A card like yours costs the same as most of the 8800gt's, but the 8800gt is generally about 20% faster it seems..
If anyone have a 8800gt...
I think i've just about had it with Ati/amd cards under linux, so i'm considering trading my ati card with a nVidia, if there's one working great.
Soo, is there? Ideally one that works at full...
Ok cool, will try them then.
Ehm how exacty do i uninstall the custom install? The /usr/share/ati dir only has a "amdcccle" dir in it...
Am i just supposed to install another driver on top...
Ok, it says it's installed, there's a little "propritary hardware warning" on the topright corner. But when starting up the Xserver it says that it's running on "low graphics mode" a default vesa...

I just tried to build a Ubuntu specific package, just to try it out.
It just creates a directory with alot of different installers, and none of them seems to actually install anything properly,...
By using "sudo ./ati-driver.....run"
I've just installed it again and now i get a "white screen of death" when login in.
I've logged in with the "safe xterm" right now and looking in the...
"the correct id (950F) into the fglrxko_pci_ids.h"
Where do i find this file, and how do i put in the correct id? Do i just edit the file(when found) with VI and put it in a list of ID's?
I'm using Ubuntu 8.4 as it seems to be the easiest to get started with.... :)
Ok so i download one of the official ati drivers, unpak that somehow(i have forgotten how), edit 'fglrxko_pci_ids.h' that is in the dir of the extracted driver(?), and then edit the xorg.conf.
How...
I'm currently using the RadeonHD driver, and it works fine for 2d. I don't think there's any acceleration, although playing videos works 'all right'..
But i can't find out if it's possible to get...
Hmm, sounds interesting. If it works out with compatibility(games/cards/boards) i could imagine the main matter is performance, because no 'enthusiast' is gonna use it if the performance is just a...
Dude i just gotta say WOOO YES, u me hero! hehe.
My 3870x2 would only run in 800x600 with weird colors on my 22" screen, so i bet you can imagine how happy i am to finally get something to work..
