Maybe I'll have more luck here than in the gentoo forums. Basically, since updating to xf86-video-ati-7.0.0, if my discrete gpu is enabled, X doesn't start (segfaults). Logs:

Duh, my module was not loading. The same error I had some time ago:
old_rsp is introduced in the patch. So I don't know how to solve it.
(edit) And now I know. I had to disable...
Hmmm... for me this driver still doesn't work with kernel 3.4. I have a dual intel/ati 6770 HP laptop. With kernel 3.3 I get:
[ 8.432] (II) Loading PCS database from /etc/ati/amdpcsdb

Sandy Bridge. It's a Core i7-2630QM with an AMD Radeon HD 6770M. When I bought it I didn't think it would work so well in linux. :)
Working fine here in a muxless intel+amd HP laptop. Suspends ok, switches ok from intel to amd and back, good performance. No major complaints apart from no xorg-server-1.12 support.
My HP laptop with muxless graphics switches perfectly with fglrx. I just do
aticonfig --px-dgpu
eselect opengl set ati
and restart X to switch to the discrete gpu and
aticonfig --px-igpu...
At least we can use xf86-video-intel-2.18 now (those of us on laptops with dual muxless intel + amd GPU). With 12.2 we were stuck on 2.15.
