These files normally belong to /lib/firmware/radeon

2-3 years per graphic card sounds much more realistic to me,
at least if you're playing some games (besides Ktetris)
from time to time.

I'd be happy if i had at least tear-free

Normally you get an answer like this:

I actually had a HD4870, which worked ok (after
waiting 4+ month of waiting for at leaset 2d accel plus
"i can't even remember how many month i had to wait" for basic 3d stuff (compiz!)).
