I believe MIR was made for Ubuntu phones using android gfx drivers, and if Canonical also runs MIR on the desktop they gets a unified system for all Ubuntu systems.
But I do not think they will...

My last experience with kde was back in the kde2 days and I didn't like it then, but I am really happy with kubuntu now, and it works better than...
