Just go with Wayland.
There is a classic session that doesn't use gnome-shell and its extension.
It uses gnome-panel.
So I was wondering, if they were using the real Classic Session powered by gnome-panel, or if...
Will they be using the GNOME Classic Session which has deprecated by GNOME, or will they use GNOME Shell with the new classic extensions?
Either way, I am a fan of Classic Session, and not found...
OMG!
You're so right!
That was exactly what I was gonna say!
I was in the #nouveau IRC channel a couple of days ago, and asked about it, I heard someone was working on it...
But it loads of...
Source or gtfo!
Nice test.
Would be nice to see illumos, OpenIndiana, or OpenSXCE (OpenSolaris) and Windows 8 or 2012 thrown in the mix.
Until data gets deleted by bugs, software, or user mistake.
Or until the power supply blows and instantly kills all your disks simultaneously.
Or until your computer gets stolen or house burns...
Still no Nouveau re-clocking support :(
I would like to see a three-way comparison with Linux, kFreeBSD and Hurd.
Would be pretty cool if Debian could get a Solaris, OpenBSD, DragonflyBSD and MINIX kernel too. ;)
This sounds very promising!
So DRI3 fixes evreything wrong with X.org, kind of like Wayland?
When you run XWayland, does it use DRI3?
Or is this only useful when X.org runs standalone?
Try Python with GTK+ over GObject Introspection (GI).
Python is kinda easy. Much easier than C and C++.
Vendors needs to work together on OpenCL to make it really cross-platform and open source and ship a common library that they work together on.
Why does Ivy Bridge perform worse on Linux than on Windows?
Yes, Windows XP is EOL on 8 april 2014.
Windows XP sucks though, Windows 7 and Windows 8 is much better (some things suck in Windows 8 though), but the upcoming Windows 8.1 is looking promising.
Now if we could only finally see some long-awaited XWayland integration...
I love gnome-panel! <3
I complain at Unity too.
Unity is the reason I want Cinnamon.
I was a happy Ubuntu user until they introduced Unity, then I started looking for alternatives and found Cinnamon.
I wish they would bring back the GNOME Classic session.
I know there will be extensions for a classic setup, but its not the same thing, I want the real classic session.
