"Stone age Xorg"
LOL...made me chuckle. Totally agree, there are no technical limitations why they cannot support the latest Xorg! The HD46XX to HD48XX are still decent cards.
I do agree that these were older games, would have liked to see some recent STEAM games compared as well. Michael said there was a bug using STEAM with the PTS so I doubt we will see any benchmarks...
My thoughts exactly. One of the main reasons I switched to NVIDIA cards mainly. Quite horrendous results for the HD6950, which is actually a good bang-for-the-buck card in Windows, however the lowly...
Finally! Been waiting for this kernel release due to the audio improvements, thanks for the post Micheal. One of the weak spots of Linux is still the audio, going to install 3.9 right now.
I agree, it would be really nice for PTS to allow benchmarking of STEAM titles so hopefully the exiting bug will be fixed in the future. This would allow a side to side comparison to Windows.
This sounds perfect for some old console emulators that seem to work best on x86 systems.
True, at least MIR got the Wayland guys moving a bit faster it seems. For some reason I have faith in MIR, more so for the tablet/phone perhaps.
This is great news! Been waiting for a while for better Linux support using Logitech devices. Finally I will be able to view battery/solar charge for my K750 keyboard, one of the most responsive...
Nice, we should have a fully functional Wayland desktop by 2037 :P
Ubuntu 13.04 is amazing so far, I have installed it on 4 of my machines here. The only issue I had was HDMI audio not working by default for both nouveau & nvidia proprietary, but that was easily...
Excellent, I will be looking forward to this release. Hopefully we get Max Payne 3 soon (doubtful)
I love the concept of open source video drivers, but the performance of the nouveau driver is so horrendous I don't plan on using it anytime soon, even for my workstation. Why does anyone actually...
I agree totally, having a much better experience on my NVIDIA systems over the AMD ones. I can actually use alpha/beta/daily builds and the latest kernels with NVIDIA using their proprietary drivers....
Wow already, and AMD still only supports 1.13
Wayland is actually making some progress, perhaps the announcement of Mir made the Wayland guys move a bit faster. Hopefully we will have a fully functional Wayland desktop BEFORE the year 2025 now!...
Thanks for the benchmarks. Odd to see a performance regression with the latest driver release.
What is with people bitching whenever benchmarks are performed here? If you don't like the tests...
Thanks for the benchmarks. Good to see some 3D games benchmarked & pushing slightly ahead of Mac OS X. Ubuntu 13.04 is performing better then 12.04 LTS in the vast majority of benchmarks and it's...
I really wish AMD would keep up to date on kernel support like NVIDIA does. Seems AMD is always a bit behind, and hesitant to support the latest kernels and xorg version until basically forced to....
Wow, this is excellent. Ubuntu 13.04 is shaping up to be an amazing release, especially with the performance increases. Windows and Mac are not progressing nearly this fast. LINUX FTW!
