(well, minus the VLIW5 part)
As far as I understand it, only the top-end 7900 chips are using the new GCN arcitecture, while the weaker parts will be using a mix of the VLIW4 arch introduced with Cayman and, curiously, the older...
Ah. Thanks. :p
*puts on dunce cap*
Forgive my stupidity, but what's the difference between the ~m/~n tags on the package names?
And yet, you waste your time posting on these threads. XD
Forgive me if this has already been discussed -- I haven't been active in a long while and only occasionally lurk -- but besides S3 Texture Compression, what other patents may directly stand in the...
Hello!
I'd just like to report that Arch Linux now has "out of the box" OpenGL acceleration for my RadeonHD 3650 video card! :D
Kernel 2.6.32.4 was just added to the "Core" repository a day or...
Is this the reason why Debian-stable is a year behind everyone else? :D
**shot**
Not only do they support two dozen arcitectures, but now they'll have three kernels?
(for the ill-humored,...
Um................ I think if you just upgrade your kernel, all RadeonHD 2000/3000/4000 chipsets will get OpenGL acceleration. Kernel 2.6.32 comes with all the necessary DRM modules.
But I could...
I was really psyched about Ext4 when it first came out, but perhaps I should just stick with good old Ext3 for another year...
Wow. The 5800 series was released, what -- three weeks ago? And now the 5700 series is being launched? Impressive. Does this mean we'll have 5600 series cards launching by early November? ;)
...
:D Now we just need AMD to hurry up and write the r800 documentation! :D
Sweet.

Oops. I meant Ubuntu 10.04; I don't know what it's codename is yet.
Ubuntu 9.10, "Karmic", will not likely have kernel 2.6.32.
Indeed. Sadly, the *buntus won't see r600/r700 OpenGL until NEXT APRIL when 10.04 comes out. :(
I'm liking Arch's rolling release model more and more!
EDIT: I called Ubuntu 10.04 "Karmic...
Hoo-Ray! Arch Linux will get r600 OpenGL by Christmas! :D
I've used Ubuntu since almost exclusively since 7.10 Gutsy, but I decided to give Arch Linux a try about 5 weeks ago.
I had almost zero experience working with line commands (except when Ubuntu...
Greetings and salutations! XD
I'm still trying out Arch Linux, and I wanted to test the ati driver from git. So I brought my Arch partition up-to-the-minute and followed Agd5f's instructions for...
LMAO times NINE THOUSAND !!! :D :D :D
LOL, wouldn't that be great? I'd object to the probable loss of life in the bombardment, but otherwise I support your agenda! ;)
Even if scientists manage to create a fully functional cell in a laboratory, all that will prove is that it took intelligent designers to create that cell. ;)
Unfortunately, basic chemistry gets...
