Changelog:
* Rename driver to 8.4
* Fix bug in installer - missing copyright notice
Well, seems like the name for the driver can be "Duke Nukem For Never" - I hope it doen't remain that way forever.
Avoid ATI/AMD, the drivers are a bad joke - they improved over the years, but it's the same difference as between a huge and a small pile of sh** - both stink. If you don't need extra performance,...
Seconded. Unfortunately, I don't expect them to accomplish such a high goal.
The problem is, most e-shops allow you to filter products by a single category - and now you have to look for a laptop "without OS / Linux" and "with nVidia / Intel graphics card" - which usually...
Not really - expecting nothing is quite optimistic, they will introduce new bugs just so that they can say "We added new features".
OK, so basically, they fixed one memory leak and added support for FireGL? No real accelerated Compiz? No video playback?
Come on, they aren't poor open-source guys trying to do their job in free...
They will change all Radeon cards for nVidia free of charge to give users at last a good experience.
Well, unfortunately not. I expect them to fix one Catalyst Control panel bug nobody ever...
I love the topic, I think it sums up a lot of things.
Spot one difference:
There is nothing else to be added. Maybe one question for the (only) ATI Linux driver developer - is it...
Well, this guide could have been much simpler.
Use Intel
(if you have to play games)
Use nVidia
(if you are a sadomasochist)
Buy ATI/AMD. In any other case, avoid ATI/AMD.
8.43.? - Hype again?
Seems like this one:

What graphic card do you use? Radeon 9600 anything?
AIGLX may work, but some of us still can't use it as Compiz/Compiz Fusion/Beryl doesn't start at certain cards (seems to be problem with Radeon 9600XT).
ATI/AMD needs to invest money in Linux...
8.42.3 - Die Wunderwaffe
8.42.3 - Too little, too late
8.42.3 - nVidia *still* years ahead
8.42.3 - You were told it works, so you lie if you complain
ATI is about one year and a half behind nVidia (consider when nVidia had to start developing stable Linux drivers - months before they were released).
Same problem, same graphic card, better description:

No way.
$ LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=true compiz --replace kconfig

GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is not available with indirect...
This is strange.
I have the driver installed correctly, glxgears as the simplest test runs.
