I don't know about your other problems, but this one is most likely caused by an older version of ccsm installed with some path prefix other than /usr/ (I was the one who made that change to ccsm at...
I just installed Ubuntu 8.04. While suspend with compiz didn't work at all on Ubuntu 7.10, it seems to work just fine on Ubuntu 8.04. I'm a much happier camper now.
Suspend still doesn't work with Compiz (leaves the screen dark with a blinking cursor) on this Mobility Radeon X300 (Dell Inspiron 6000). It's been many months now. That's really all I expect from...
Great video. Thanks!
But was it just me, or does the video get cut off at 30:48 before the talk ends?
I have the same problem. It won't suspend if compiz is started at least once prior to suspend attempt (doesn't matter if compiz is on or off at that moment). Otherwise it suspends and resumes just...
Dear bridgman, I should say that your interaction with users is much appreciated, thank you!
It looks like the quality of the driver is increasing indeed. For example, I can finally use Compiz with acceptable scrolling speed in Firefox and can see uninterrupted Compiz animations.

I had my first instance of the artifact-at-bottom-right-corner problem with fglrx after using 7.12 for 5 days. It looked like 8 vertically-squeezed rectangles placed on a horizontal line (watermark...
Tried 7.12 on a Dell Inspiron 6000 with Mobility X300, 1680x1050 native-res LCD, Ubuntu Gutsy.
Fixed problem:
- Stand by and Hibernate finally both work with Gutsy!!! (survived 9 stand by's in a...
Can Michael and others who get good Compiz desktop performance (not game fps) with 8.42.3 post their xorg.conf files? (or just the modification(s) done over the default) Was it just enabling EXA?

I had the exact same experience with the new driver on a mobility X300. The new driver is simply not responsive enough yet and it uses a lot (I mean A LOT) of CPU (instead of the GPU) while updating...
Whoa, just went back to the ATI open source driver. Performance difference (with compiz) is like day and night. Heck, even HD video performance with compiz is pretty good with the open-source driver....
Thanks. Tried that, but it seems to help only a little. I still have significant flickering in videos and OpenGL apps. Without Compiz running, it was already pretty good though.
That's interesting. The new driver hasn't fixed this problem for me. I'm guessing you're not using Ubuntu, right?
Oh well, the next driver is supposed to fix this by introducing 2.6.23 kernel...
Installed and running 8.42.3. I had to do a "ln -s libGL.so.1.2 libGL.so.1" to fix the missing libGL issue.
Problems:
Suspend still doesn't work on Ubuntu 7.10, Ubuntu bug #121653, as the...
Any updates on the slides Michael? :)
