I filed a bug in the wine bugzilla claiming that my warcraft 3 installation using the latest radeon git and mesa 7.3 was giving me problems using -openg and -window command options. A developer...
So...from what I understand I should have to compile mesa, libdrm and X from git...
Thanks for all your answers.
Thanks for this suggestion too. But I guess I have to compile mesa from git. Am I wrong?
Now it works thank you. Do you know if there are some optimization to make the game work smoothier? I have an ati mobility x1600 and using the proprietary drivers things are better (no suprises).
I'm running the latest ati open source driver directly from the git server. Mesa 7.3 and libdrm 2.4.5 are there. DRI and opengl acceleration are working pretty good. But...doom 3 starts correctly but...
With my ati mobility 1600 powerplay stopped working. So I sadly have to confirm the powerplay bug. Back to 9.1.
Well I must say that I totally agree. But at the same time the lack of some sort of Powerplay control, that will keep my laptop cool enough, keeps me away from the switch...
Personally I won't switch to open drivers until some sort of system to keep the temperature down will be implemented...I'm really sorry because the developers are working great but being a laptop...
So, from what I understand, the option DynamicClocks actually is not working as expected (It does not scale the clock)...Am I wrong?
Thank you for the reply
I'm actually using the latest git revision of xf86-video-radeon. The driver works beautifully. 2D performance are awesome and 3D is improving. Concerning powerplay options I'm unable to set any mode...
Great tool. Very useful. I'm creating a PKGBUILD for Archlinux to be uploaded to AUR.
UPDATE: uploaded to AUR
Would you be so kind to post your xorg.conf file? Maybe your tweakings will be a great inspiration for all of us :-)
I agree. Don't get me wrong. As a matter of fact once I realized that compiz at the moment is creating more problems I disabled it. I will try a newer version of compiz as well...but i doubt.
If you're experiencing problems with compiz maybe AIGLX is not working so well :o.
Firefox scrolling is not a minor issue.
If the videos are unwatchable maybe something is bad...don't you think...
I do think the new driver is just a baby. Young and buggy . Nothing more nothing less.
Many people are experencing problems with compiz generally...we still have to understand if this is related to the new AIGLX implementation, to Compiz itself or to an unfortunate marriage :)
Guys...same response from me...scrolling is a pain, flickering with videos and 3d games and so on...I have a X1600 mobility with 256M...
With Gutsy and the x1600 mobility with 256 Mb Compiz seems to be a little bit sluggy...Xgl was smoother  Maybe something to tweak? Compiz buggy? AIGLX buggy? Who knows.
I would say, examining the previous release dates, that the driver will likely be released within Thursday. Otherwise expect it between the 29th and the 31st.
Let me tell you that this is gonna be another "hey when is the driver going to be released?" day. It's fine for me...I do have a life :D
