Radeon driver can't activate the YUV output and i need it.
I could read that only fglrx enables advanced power management and it seems to be better in 3D too.
Hi there !
I'm back with good news : i won !
After weeks of research i could make my multiseat work pretty fine with FGLRX on kubuntu 10.4
I built an hybrid multiseat system with 2 HD3870 cards :...
This solution is interesting but i'm using VMware Player 3.0.1
I'm affraid of a VMware incompatibility with the experimental 2.6.34 kernel.
With Kubuntu 10.4 alpha in Febuary, i already needed...
Thank you bridgman, you confirmed me there is a real problem with fglrx and vgaarb. Is that i thought but i couldn't be sure.
I tried my conf with Ubuntu, Xubuntu and then Kubuntu 9.04 and...
Thanks :-)
What do you mean by "OP" ?
Sorry, i didn't want to create havoc on the forum.
I just want to install the ati drivers on my 3 screens kubuntu computer in the simpliest way.
@Bridgman:
The only files i have modified for...
So it's absolutly impossible for a non linux expert to do the job correctly, simply activate three screens with two gpu.
Fair enough, i will try your script.
Do you mean that the official ati install script is a manually way ?
I'm so disappointed... :-(

But nothing really changed.
During linux boot, the kernel simply stops... just...
Okay, sorry, i ask too much noobs questions... I've found this with google on Ubuntu doc.
I will verify the blacklist myself tonight.
Thank you all guys, i'll keep you aware.
Seb
So, in my case, dri and radeon kernel modules haven't been blacklisted for an unknown reason...
How can i do this manually ?
By the "modprobe -r radeon drm" command ?
Or by editing...
Is "radeondrmfb" the ati proprietary framebuffer to use instead of open source "drm" ?
I think i will stay on the "standard" way but Thank you anyway Kano. ;-)
I've just red this on : http://wiki.debian.org/fr/ATIProprietary
# modprobe -r radeon drm
# modprobe fglrx
# echo fglrx >> /etc/modules
I mean reboot the entire machine (with a kick in the a... :-) )
Maybe something about a kms / fbcon conflict ?
I tried one more time with FGLRX :
1/ Removed radeon driver (sudo apt-get remove --purge (...)-ati (...)-radeon)
2/ Installed Catalyst 10.5 with ati installer script
3/ Deleted xorg.conf (after...
I use it on my multiseat config and it works pretty well.
Each seat attached to its own display can define its own screen mode separately... without any problem.
My problem is just the radeon...
