Mozilla is moving to a shorter release cycle after version 4. This is because Firefox has been losing market share to Chrome, which has very short release cycles. Also, most of version 4 was ready...
So how come I don't have to re-download those 1000 packages whenever there's a bugfix release to Glibc?
Why is almost everyone pretending that D3D support didn't exist before now? The new state tracker doesn't add anything new (well, except maybe D3D11 support), it just simplified D3D->OpenGL->TGSI to...
I agree on the multimedia stack, but how can you have *long-standing* bugs for an API that reached 1.0 less than a year ago?
Go to 3D->Anti-Aliasing Mode, and move the slider all the way to the right.
I played Portal just fine this morning after installing 10.6, and I have a 5850 (currently running Ubuntu 10.04 and Wine 1.2-rc3 with Compiz disabled, since I can't be bothered re-enabling it each...
Very impressed with this release. 2D is snappy (was like using the VESA driver when I was on 10.4!), and my Source games work in Wine again! (a fix from 10.5 I believe)

Oh, I'm running fglrx (5850 owner); I don't have any philosophical opposition to closed source software. I was just curious if there was a pure OSS way of doing OpenCL, since I know there are people...
I imagine there are a lot of people who'd like to tinker around with OpenCL programming without having to use a closed-source driver.
Anyone know if there's a software fallback (i.e. OpenCL on the...
I may be an evergreen owner, but I'm glad to see that the older cards are still getting some love. It's nice to know I'll still have support when my card is past its prime.
I'm curious as to how they'd plan to support ATi hardware if they went ahead with X.Org 1.9, given how long it took for the closed-source driver to support X.Org 1.7. What are they gonna do, pull in...
The owner's manual for my Canon 500D has this to say:
Basically, it's licensed to encode H.264 for any purpose (including commercial use), and is licensed to decode H.264, even if it was...
Instead of r800, how about everGREEN ? :D

Sounds replacing the dynamically-scaled and watermarked images with static ones, even if they don't fit as well. Images that don't load in the first place don't fit on your screen very well either,...
The iPhone's interface is very slick, but you have to use iTunes to load stuff onto it, so the experience as a whole is kind of a wash. :p
If your laptop is more capable with older software, then why aren't you running it?
Newer is not always better. The entire AMD/ATi graphics scene is undergoing a HUGE transformation right now, in...
