This fits very closely to my question about randr 1.2. Please can ATI in the future make more use of subsystems from X.org people? They really tend to work better. ;)
One more question, I think, I didn't read this one yet, but I might just not have seen it yet.
Will ATI with the fglrx driver make use of the X.org subsystems, for example randr 1.2?
Currently...
That would be cool. It would be even cooler (as it says ;)) to release a "power management" documentation package, which includes info about sensors, fans (fan control?) and powerplay.
But you are...
I made a first check to see if the current ati drivers (8.452 aka 8.01) still compile against the upcoming linux kernel and this is the result:
CC [M] ...
You might want to have a look here:
http://debian.wgdd.de/temp/fglrx_man/fglrx.4x.html
and here:
http://linux.die.net/man/5/xorg.conf
The first one lists special ati options, although the list...
Maybe, but when they can release it under BSD they can virtually release it under any license.
I think, that would be LGPL.
That is not completely true.
You are only forced to pay for QT if you want to use a closed source license, but you may use an incompatible license from the official list (like BSD) and you may also...
It works on some notebooks already. Mine for example.
But there seem to be quite a few chips, that are not yet supported by fglrx' powerplay, that's true.
You answered mine, well... sort of. ;)
Compositing will still not work with it when using kwin. ;) (or :()
Ebuild changes are trivial, one only has to add amdpcsdb.default to the install routine.
Apart from that (and that the...
Naah, please no new features, just get the current ones running without too many bugs. ;)
(I would say, that presenting crossfire for linux together with hybrid crossfire would be perfect, but I...
What you are suggesting is exactly the same, you just name it differently.
Yes, and No.
The kernel people stabilize every release, that's not what I asked for.
Every once in a while (lets say every about every 6 monts) there is a driver version, that seems to work for...
My question:
Could there maybe be two branches for the fglrx driver?
One driver, where _only_ fixes go in (and it is branched off the other one in bigger intervals), so something like a stable...
Cool, thanks. ;)
I always wanted to try out the radeon driver, but this one (missing) feature has kept me away from it.
I've got fglrx installed currently and powerplay works fine.
If you need some testing help (or...
gl2benchmark won't compile on my Gentoo system.
But actually I don't care about some benchmark, that doesn't run (or whatever it does/doesn't). I care about the apps and games, that I run and I...
I'm running xorg-server 1.4 + fglrx for slightly over 1,5 months now, without problems. I only had problems with newer xorg-server versions.
I think, that this is (at least partly) already the case since 8.42.3.
Because when I set the opengl profile to xorg-x11/mesa, so it uses libGL.so from mesa and not the one from fglrx, 3D...
