As RadeonHD folks are paid by Novell and AMD and Radeon folks are not, I'd say them..
Who should i donate to, to support (and maybe speed up) the development of free drivers for radeon hd hardware? particularly i mean the basic stable 2d/3d/xv stuff.
it seems both radeonhd/radeon projects, and possibly more are involved.
Where do i go to donate to it?

michael, who do you recommend i donate to then? i want to support development of free drivers.
Well, is it money that you're interested in donating to them or hardware?
whatever helps them the most.. Be it hardware or money, i dont much care![]()
Hmmm... While they have their differences, ultimately both sides should be working together.... I guess ask both sides who needs hardware. I'd say the RadeonHD guys may need hardware more, since it takes them a few weeks to get hardware sometimes from AMD directly and it also takes them sometime (a DisplayPort monitor took them a couple months to get) with procurement orders internally through Novell. I don't think either Radeon or RadeonHD developers will tell you they need cash.
If they say they don't need hardware, then some other recommendations would be:
- Send them beer, popular with FOSS developers for coding or bug fixes
- Donation to X.Org Foundation
- Another project... Nouveau guys won't turn stuff away.
i realize that the nouveau guys are doing a great job aswell, however, i cannot shake the feeling off, that if the nouveau guys create a really good working driver, nvidia will eat too much of the cake.
i suppose the xorg foundation could be good. Do you know if it is tax deductable?![]()
One question though, why wouldnt either radeon or radeonhd developers need cash? i mean - it doesent matter to me what happens with the cash, and if some money gets them an extra incentive to work on it, thats a perfectly great situation for me![]()
