    Default RadeonHD support for S-video

    Hello,

I hope someone knows this information.

Does the opensource radeonHD driver support tv-out via S-video?

And can this be enabled by xrandr?

If so, what kind of tv standards are supported (ntsc, pal, etc)?
Can the tv_standard being changed with xrandr.

As an example, I know this works with the opensource radeon driver:
xrandr --output S-video --set load_detection 1 --set tv_standard pal --auto.

So actually, if someone could "translate" this sentence to valid radeonHD?

    Thanks.

I don't think we have had much luck getting the TVOut hardware working yet. Alex has been working on it (working with our internal engineers) as time permits but it has been a lower priority than getting the 3d engine going for 6xx/7xx so we can push ahead with 2d, 3d and video acceleration for those chips.

My understanding is that radeon supports TV today but only with pre-5xx hardware, which has a very different TVOut implementation.

    Thanks for your reply.

Do you have any idea when radeonHD fully supports tv-out via xrandr?
I guess it won't be this year, maybe next year?

It's a bit hard to say. Something like "the day Alex has time to get TVOut working plus a month"

Seriously, if I had to guess I would say this year rather than next year.
