    Default AMD Driver Roadmap

Found this posted around quite a few other websites:

Would say the most interesting thing from the Linux perspective is that the "protected HD video" feature. Could that mean that this is the suspected uvd support and that it will in the end only be for OEMs.

Other than that besides improved OverDriver support there don't really seem to be any other biggies planned for the next couple of month.

hehe - I saw that in one of the Catalyst version threads, and mentioned I'd like to get ahold of drivers on the "general availability" dates, rather than when they're packaged/released 3 weeks later

There'll still be plenty of "biggies" though, for various definitions of "big". Once DRI2 is frozen, they'll be able to implement a proper solution to composited video tearing, then there's the craziness that'll be involved with implementing OpenGL 3 (someone mentioned there were bits in the 8.9 Windows driver), then the craziness involved with re-implementing it properly...

Although yeah, I'd be happy for AMD to send their fglrx guys over to Novell for a while to help with RadeonHD

What I am wondering, is that since i have a hp dv5 laptop, will the HD video feature work for me, or is this something that will have to be enabled by the oem vendor specifically?
