CAT 8.9 + Yo Frankie! + X1600XT == Segfault

anyone tried to run Yo Frankie! on fglrx?

Vid card on my second pc is an X1600XT (RV530XT)
OS is Ubuntu 8.04.1
Catalyst 8.9
Compiz DISABLED

after launching Yo Frankie the splash shows and screen dip to black twice, then bah! Segfault.

Anyone tested the game on similar platform?

OTOH, my primary PC also running Ubuntu 8.04.1, Cat 8.9 with HD 4850 runs the game without a glich.
