    Default Logitech G15 Keyboard

    Phoronix: Logitech G15 Keyboard

A few months back we had looked at the OCZ Alchemy Elixir Keyboard, which was designed for gamers and was built quite nicely, but it had fallen short when it came to the multimedia keys working under Linux. Though if you are looking for an advanced keyboard that works quite well with Linux, you may want to check out the Logitech G15, which works under Linux and even with its small LCD display.

For those looking to get, or owning a G15, I'm one of those people who has developed software using G15Tools.

If you use xChat and have/plan to get a G15, check out my xChat G15 Highlighter plugin.

A totally overengineered piece of hardware. Ridiculous in every possible way. It's not a keyboard, it's a spaceship!

I love my g15 had an original blue backlit one that had the problem with the paint coming off the keys and replaced it with a v2 that im very happy with.

Love my G5 too! hell of a combo.

Actually, I've spilled a few beer on mine. They drain quite nicely and stand up pretty well.

Do you know if it really needs that daemon? My Cherry CyMotion Linux also came with a daemon, but I added some keycodes to the kernel and my own X keyboard definition (these days X has one included). It seems absurd to need a daemon for interpreting some keypresses...

Yes it does, otherwise the G keys share the same keycodes as Function Keys. As well the daemon allows for macro recording. The daemon isn't only for the keyboard functionality though. It also is needed for the display.
