After I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.28, I got some error messages in dmesg when I enter X:
I have MTRR and PAT options turned on in kernel configuration. But fglrx 8.561 turns off PAT support by default.
[fglrx:firegl_addmap] *ERROR* mtrr allocation failed (-22)
The X runs well and so do 3D games except the following problems:
1. When I exit X and try to re-enter X, the whole system locks up. Only SYSRQ reboot command can get me out of this condition. Unload fglrx module before I re-enter X solves the problem. But I don't think this is a proper solution.
2. Quake4 runs. But there exist visual problems in some dark rooms with lights on and off. Upper half of the room is total darkness and lower half are normal textures that flicker a lot.
Is anyone having problem with kernel 2.6.28?
Is it possible that the new feature (GEM) of kernel 2.6.28 cause the problem?
