Thread: KMS and radeonfb

    Default KMS and radeonfb

Is the kernel modesetting radeon driver supposed to have all the features of the radeonfb module? Will the radeonfb module be removed from the kernel once KMS driver is stable enough?

I believe we will enforce to either have radeon KMS or radeonfb the latter being depreciated. Note we need to wait few years (5 maybe more) before we can do rm radeonfb at least this is my understanding of kernel rules.

I'd actually think radeonfb would be kept, since KMS support isn't planned to be extended to R100 and R200 cards.

R100-R200 will be supported by KMS, i think they already are in the current KMS code (at least they were in radeonms).

They are supported in the KMS tree already.
