Ugly Watermark Issue "AMD Unsupported hardware"

Don't you think somebody should update the ATI/AMD website that beginners can find the latest release too?

installed the default fglrx drivers automagically, from the 'restricted hardware drivers' menu, should be the ati ccc 10.x


everythings run perfectly (3d works), i want just to remove the watermark.

on the ati site, first of all there is no my graphic card model in the list (radeon mobility 5650), then, i cant find the 8.x drivers, bt just the 10.x

I downloaded the 9.x drivers, extracted the control and signatre files, put them in /etc/ati/, but the watermark is still here.

Will be great if someone post a link of a driver version without the watermark...

You can use my script usually

sudo rm -vf /etc/X11/xorg.conf*
wget -N http://kanotix.com/files/install-fglrx-debian.sh

then login in vt1 (ctrl+alt+f1) as your user and then:

sudo sh install-fglrx-debian.sh -z
sudo reboot

Then you must have got your personal AMD site, when I select Linux and ATI Radeon HD 5970 then I get to 10.1.

I get 10.2.

mmh, i have to correct myself, im using the 8.660-0ubuntu4 ati driver (or at least, EnvyNG report that version).

Not when you are redirected to de/german, then you get:

This site has 2 errors, left 9-12, middle 10-1...

but anyway, i cant get the drivers from amd.com: my graphic card is not in list, not even for windows (the site redirect to the manufactor site, where you can download the entire suite of drivers that come preinstalled in the notebook.. but on windows seven -.-)

basically the card does not matter, every new card has the same driver.

Ahh, so maybe this varies by country then. Canadian users seem to get taken here when entering www.amd.com :

... presumably that's different from the page you're on ? I confirmed that HD 5970 goes to the 10.2 driver for me.

Also checked for both 32 and 64-bit Linux in case something was funny there...

Well that seems to be correct for us only. Try other languages - your german team has to do some home work
