I was thinking that it would be interesting to know what software Phoronix users use to meet their needs. I discovered many useful programs in threads like this in some Debian users mailing list, and perhaps doing something similar here can bring more susprising and useful stuff to the table.
Something along the following lines could do, so you only have to copy and paste. Of course, I probably left out tons of stuff that people use and I don't, feel free to adapt it so we can learn/discover more things.
