XV video with compositing also works very smooth now. I don't got misplaced video output or anything odd. I don't even get crashes when playing a video in fullscreen??? :O
Is this really the driver version we have waited so long for? Is this really THE driver without disappointments?
Everyone waiting for this driver to be released really has something to be excited over.
<<If this is something I should not be talking about, feel free to delete my post. I don't know how phoronix / ati takes thiese discussions.>>
    EDIT:
Actually resizing with compositing seems a lot faster than without composition :P That said, resizing isn't slow without compositing, don't worry.
Be Happy AMD Rocks da House

and yes if you saying 9-2 is bad thats legal.. if you say 9-4 is "OMG, this 9.4 RC1 driver is awesome." thats agains the LAW !!!

    I use RHEL 5.3 server ,kernel 2.6.27.18 ,
with VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Mobility Radeon X300] on my Dell inspiron 6000
ati-9.2 works fine .but when I install this rc1, fail for me

You must change your working directory to /lib/modules/fglrx
and then call ./make_install.sh in order to install the built module.
    - recreating module dependency list
    - trying a sample load of the kernel modules
    failed.
[Error] Kernel Module : Failed to install compiled kernel module - please consult readme
I try use ./make_install.sh ,show out:

    - trying a sample load of the kernel modules
    failed

error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.27.18/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.ko) cannot allocate memory

    how do it ?

    @Qaridarium

Hmm does your Quakewars run without problems? Everything is black for me ingame, and some buttons are hidden in the game menu before you hover the mouse over them. When you have hovered your mouse over them, they become visible. Its not every button though.
Nexuiz works fine. Penumbra works fine. World of goo works fine. Everyone with compositing.
Savage 2 have the same problem as Quakewars -> Everything is black. But if you shoot with something like a rocket, you can actually see the landscape with the glow of the rocket :P But hmm, lets hope the release will fix this.

Another problem I have come by, is that if I maximize (not fullscreen) a HD video, the movie becomes very laggy. But I'll survive. Anyway I always look at a movie in fullscreen or in a very little window.

You sir, are very very funny and a fresh change from the usual whining (self included) at this forum.
