The Intel Z550 is the first Intel Atom processor to support Hyper Threading. It was just recently with the introduction of the Core i7 that Hyper Threading had been reintroduced to allow for eight logical CPU cores. Now with a Hyper Threaded Atom, the operating system will see two cores.

This is absolutely, totally false! Almost ALL Atom processors support HyperThreading, including the most common N270. The only ones that don't are the lower-power ones from the "Z" series.

Please document yourself before writing falsehoods! You've benchmarked several Atom netbooks, did you try "cat /proc/cpuinfo" on one for kicks?

The german computer magazine c't ran a comparison of most current cpus shortly ago. Among other things, they also compared energy efficency (in calculations/time, don't now exactly which benchmark they took anymore). The Atom (1.6 Ghz) ended up last, and I don't think this would be much different for this new Atom.

If you own a MSI wind with a recent BIOS you could try to oc the 1.6 cpu to 2.0 too
