Default Debian is switching to EGLIBC

As reported here (German) and here.

I noticed a lot of anti Ulrich Drepper messages on Aurelien's blog, I also went through the bugs linked there. It seems a lot of people are not content with his decisions.

Can anyone provide their opinion on whether these complaints are justified or not, and what implications this move might have on Debian and possibly also on Ubuntu?

I believe this could stop all binary-only stuff from working on Debian - LGP games, Flash, Sun Java. Haven't read up on it yet, so I'm not certain.

I doubt it's going to break everything, since it's basically a fork of glibc and they've stated that source and binary compatibility with glibc are major goals.
