I would like to have something to play with that engine. A gfx demo is nice, but a little multiplayer shooter or so would be better. Then you could test the networking part too.

.. BUT, I think we need an open sourced engine similar to this.
Something open source which can make money if the end product is sold (or the developer gets money for this product) while the engine is available for people to freely develop on and release nicer free games.

I just find it a bit disappointing when something could be so much more.

They are doing nice work though.
Huge developments happen in BGE (Blender Game Engine) right now, with the help of a commercial sponsor:

And yes, it is all open source.

Edit: only the engine stuff is open, the game under development is commercial.

And on topic: I will also buy Unigines game(s) for sure. Support my platform and I will support you

I stumbled across some screenshots from a MMORPG developed by some Russian team that uses the Unigine engine (well they are actually linked to from Unigine's site):

    Looks pretty nice as well.

It would be really cool to get some more Linux games which look state of the art. Quake 3 or similar engine are certainly not bad - and run fast even on old pcs, but of course you want to see some better gfx on a fast system too. Multi platform engines are definitely the best way for this. Linux only would be a joke, but when you can run it from gameing console to Linux, Mac and Win then you reach much more users - and don't forget the marketing value of Linux games. Even if there would be only 1% desktop linux users, then lots of em want to play games, and multiplattform games are definitely first choice for em usually...

Geez, could get a harem of hookers here for a $100. Hell for $20 you can get one with a full set of teeth.

sometimes its better if they dont have teeth

on the flipside its 10k startup for source indie licensing. if the Ontario minimum wage is ~$10 (excluding socialist taxes) then that's 100 hours working at mcdonalds

and if 10 people developed the game thats 100 hours at mcdonalds each

Heres the real question. If 10 developers worked at mcdonalds for 100 hours each, how many happy meals would be sold?

oh heres the dude to fix my exploded water heater. Only 7 hours late...
