Reply With QuoteSolved! The solution was really stupid: I simply read aticonfig help and noticed they recommend to use the xorg.conf template config. When using the template as input, aticonfig produces a config file which works flawlesly.

I will try that, and also Im downloading 9.6 to see what happens.
