"The Intel X.Org 2.8 driver was released last month"
But it still hasn't worked its way through the Fedora 11 update pipeline. Apparently someone at Fedora likes all those bugs, and wants to keep them.
Phoronix: Intel's X.Org Driver Update Brings 7 Fixes
The Intel X.Org 2.8 driver was released last month, but now those developers working on this DDX driver have issued their first point release for this quarterly driver update. The xf86-video-intel 2.8.1 driver brings seven fixes to this Intel graphics processor driver, while all new features and other work are going into what will eventually become xf86-video-intel 2.9 later this year. The xf86-video-intel 2.8.1 driver has fixes for using transformations in a KMS environment, alignment corrections for tiled pixmaps heights and untiled pixmaps, a new EDID property blob, align DRI2 tiled pixmaps to the DRI2 tiled pixmap alignment requirement, a fix for the DVO timing, and fix sampler indexes on i965 planar video. Intel's release announcement for the xf86-video-intel 2.8.1 driver update can be read on the X.Org mailing list...

Probably hasn't made it to RHEL either.
Nor Slackware, Mandriva, PCLinuxOS, Debian, ..
Most of them may run Nvidia and tend to igore these point releses
Anybody tried it out?
Does Blender finally render to it's window instead of elsewhere.

I've compiled it manually and it's working like a charm. Strangely it hasn't made it into arch repos either, they are usually fast when it comes to updates...
