So if you have an NVidia card ou have to wait till nouveau enters in the kernel? And after that will you be able to boot your machine by using nouveau for the booting process and nvidia for X?

so, if nouveau is going to be in the 10.04 final release, shouldn't us nvidia users have kms support for plymouth also?
why would it have to be pulled into the kernel for kms?

When using the NVIDIA driver you would fall-back to the basic progress bar for the boot process. You wouldn't just load the nouveau driver and then remove that module after Plymouth and then load the nvidia driver and start X, it wouldn't be a flicker free process and would be rather pointless for a few seconds of Plymouth and nouveau could leave your GPU in a bad state for the nvidia kernel module.

Has Canonical made any kind of statement indicating that inclusion of Plymouth means that their boot time won't be as fast as expected (at least for non-SSD machines)?
