Default Test Idea: network performance UNIX/linux

i think the testsuite should support network
based test to compare the network stack of linux with (for example) tru64 or other proprietary unix versions

    machine1 (PTS) <-LAN-> machine2 (DUT)

    machine2: (for example)
    a alpha DS10 workstation with Tru64 UNIX
and (for example) latest samba version

and now use the same hardware with
(maybe) debian for alpha and the same
samba version and run the network
    based test again.

    you get:
    1) test for non x86 hardware
    2) performance compare with UNIX

    this should be done with
    Tru64 on ALPHA
    Solaris on Sparc64
    AIX on PPC64 (RS/6000)
    IRIX on MIPS64

I won't quibble about the details (yet) but PTS seems to be very weak on network performance tests unless I'm missing something.

Right now we don't have any network test profiles, but contributions are welcome.
