    AMD has today delivered their last proprietary Linux driver update for the year, Catalyst 9.12. However, if you were hoping Catalyst 9.12 would deliver on some of your holiday wishes, guess again...

    The driver contains OpenGL 3.2 support.

    leaving aside any comments about xvba (no need to get into that again!), opengl3.2 support is welcome. Shall have to try it out soon.

    damn, i've got the dreaded 'black screen' that everyones been ranting about for years, but I've never been afflicted until now...

    Is there any synopsis on what causes it? or just bad luck

    Try to remove /etc/ati/amdpcsdb and reboot.

    I would try it but unfortunately supporting xorg releases isn't a priority so I can't.
