well, i tried <option name="vblank_mode" value="2" /> and value=3
in ~/.drirc and /etc/drirc
it made absolutely no changes in glxgears attitude.
X.Org ATI Driver Developer
DRI2 doesn't support the vblank mode DRI option yet. It only supports the vblank GLX extensions.
