Thanks for going to the effort of providing these videos.

It would be wonderful if Phoronix would provide them in an open, patent-free format (eg Ogg Theora/Dirac) instead of the proprietary Flash format which seems to be the status quo. Below are some video sharing services that can host them in a patent-free format if Phoronix does not have enough bandwidth to supply its own content:

Openly documented and patent-free formats are important because they enable anyone to LEGALLY access the content regardless of platform. This is especially true in the case of Linux distributions (the focus of this site). Most Linux distributors are unable to provide out-of-the-box support for patent-encumbered or proprietary formats due to various legal and technical reasons. Please consider the audience of this website and provide all content--including video--in a format that does not alienate your visitors. Thanks.

Release a torrent. Everyone who reads Phoronix uses bittorrent. Also agree with bugmenot, Dirac would be a good format for this.

I think that http://www.archive.org a solid option that should be considered. It have flash player, video tag and lots of space.

Youtube still requires h264 support with HTML5 and the 10 minute time limit is still in place unless you are a partner.

Any news on the videos? I also can really also suggest to release a torrent. That solves also problems with unreliable connections.

I will be back in the states on Monday so by then they should be up. Again, there will be no torrent.
