Great to see regular updates of Mesa and the Xserver nowadays. While Ubuntu 10.04 uses not so current versions due to their LTS stability concerns, I hope that with Ubuntu 10.10 we will see the inclusion of Mesa 7.9 and Xserver 1.9![]()
Phoronix: X.Org Server 1.8 Release Candidate 2
X Server 1.8 may be the first X.Org release in recent times where it's released on time or at least close to being on schedule. Back in October, X Server 1.8 was given a release date of the 31st of March. This is just a little over a week away, but it looks like this next major update to the X Server that brings udev input handling, DRI2 updates, xorg.conf.d support, and other changes...

I'm really glad x-org started releasing stuff out and letting us test it instead of trying to fix everything themselves before they would release. A toast to running 5 different xorg servers in the last 3 weeks.
