I would like to add that X2 and X3 are on special.
And they both have native Linux support.
Edit: This also classifies as evidence in my book. for those still skeptical.
Uh? That will only buy you the Windows versions, or have LGP suddenly infiltrated Steam?![]()
Hrm, I don't know if I'm the only one who thought of this, but here goes: To Linux users, if you download the files from the site that's back online now (http://store.steampowered.com/public...m_client_linux) and then make a steam.cfg in the same directory and add "Universe = http://store.steampowered.com/public/client/steam_client_linux" the client will automatically update itself!
Still getting the "Failed to load steamui.so" that was introduced in the latest version, however. Hrm.
Fazer,
It's possible that they are statically linked. This would require the linkist to pay licensing fees.
I think the links are back up.
http://store.steampowered.com/public...m_client_linux does indeed work again.
In the official Steam forums one user was able to work around all the errors and get the client nearly starting. It worked just like Windows client and downloaded about 25 MB of updates which include Steam files but crashed after it was done. He posted a log of the console, maybe someone can write him a PM how he did that, he said he doesn't feel comfortable with posting it in the public as Valve has already blocked this minutes after his post.
