Hardware: Dell Inspiron Mini laptop
openSUSE 11.2 (i586)
kernel 188.8.131.52-0.2-desktop i686
4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5) "release 0"
Problem with the graphic chip, i.e. I can only edit as 800x576, sax2 does not accept anything else.
From http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...E_11.2_Update/ I downloaded typical openSUSE rpms such as:
as xorg-x11-drv-psb-0.31.0-1.1.i586.rpm need those other three files (dependencies).
OK, this site/forum mentions something about messy drivers.
I know Intel promised to make proper drivers for the Poulsbo, but for the moment it seems to work with Ubuntu and Fedora only.
The problem after installing these four rpm files is that the X-server did not start up anymore after restarting.
I have now also downloaded a rpm file: psb-kmp-desktop-4.41.1_184.108.40.206_0.2-6.4.i586.rpm, but I'm not very keen to install this file, due to my experience with the other four drivers and the X-server problem.
I know the Fedora guy said just install xorg-x11-drv-psb, restart and everything is OK. Well, this is not OK for openSUSE anyway.
My /var/log/Xorg.0.log file only states:
I do not have FBDEV(II) VESA
About Mesarpm -qa '*driver*'
and this is about sax2:rpm -q Mesa
Now what can I do to have the Poulsbo work properly, 1024x756 (also stated in xorg.conf) ?# sax2 -p
Chip: 0 is -> VESA Vesa-BIOS Graphics 00:02:0 0x8086 0x8108 PCI vesa
I really hope someone can help me out, another forum (openSUSE) advised me to contact the Phoronix forum.
Many many thanks anyway for helping me out.
