    Reading between the lines (and the posting on the LGP site that was up is now replaced by the actual site) the issue here was not that backups were not done. The problem was that the backups were not tested/checked to determine whether they were viable. You can find dozens of similar horror stories for other IT companies digging through the archives of the ISC.

    Ohh yes, I have had experienced some of those things too at many of the jobs I worked on. GOOD backups count and if you can't read the backup media you are screwed
