Automatic caption color

Hello.

Does anyone know where I can find a program that can determine an appropriate color for a piece of text displayed over an image so that it's readable? I want to somehow set up conky to change the text color based on my wallpaper.

I remember seeing something of this nature on this forum a very long time ago, but I can't find anything now (with google too, but maybe I'm not using the right terms).

I created a way to do it a number of years ago but haven't done anything to that particular tech since.

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you have any plans to start working on it again, and/or release it to the public (maybe dual-licensed)?

Using that terminology, I found this non-free paper btw.
